Store data on CloudFlare R2 via s3cmd

R2 is a cloud storage service with zero egress charges by CloudFlare. You can use it for multiple scenarios, from small data to big data. Its API is S3 compatible. Any S3 client can operate against it.

Here I introduce a CLI tool s3cmd, that is written in Python.

Configuration

Invoke interactive configuration tool to generate a configuration file in home directory.

$ s3cmd --configure

Edit the generated file ~/.s3cfg, replace the following option with your credentials. On the CloudFlare R2 console you can create access key and secret key, account ID can also be found there. As R2 does not support DNS-style bucket, you can leave host_bucket empty.

Usage

Try to put file into bucket on R2.

$ s3cmd put {file} s3://{bucket}/{prefix/}
